About Prince of Wales Inn
The 'Prince' is a traditional pub incorporating many of the old values of local history in pictures and other items. A 40 covers restaurant is ideal for a party or reception and is also used for our popular Sunday Carvery. In the lounge Mondays and every other Friday around 20 good singers enjoy a great night with our keyboard player. The central log fire is a great attraction on a cold winter night with a few local beers and locally sourced steaks.
Accommodation is provided by 4 cosy ensuite rooms-1 family room, twin and 2 doubles which are available as singles. Prices are- single £45, double or twin - £60, family - £70 per night. Prices are negotiable. All are on the ground floor with outside access. Outside is a nice beer garden and car park. Tariffs are very competitive with discounts for stays 3 days or over.
The pub is run by John and Keri Richards who have owned it since 2005 were both brought up in the western valley near Abertillery.
John has been involved in Welsh cycling most of his life and organised the Junior Tour of Wales.

The 'Prince' is in an ideal position to tour South and Mid-Wales and is situated alongside the Brecon Beacons National Park. The historic industrial revolution town of Merthyr Tydfil is just 4 miles away. Cardiff, Abergavenny, Swansea and Brecon are around half an hour distance.
Big Pit in the World heritage town of Blaenavon is 10 miles.
Bikepark Wales, the new downhill cycling centre, a huge sport in Wales, is 5 miles away south of Merthyr.
Back in the pub our full menu is available from 12 noon - 9.00pm. Much of the food is made on the premises such as Steak in Ale and Corned beef pie as well as desserts of apple and winberry tart, the latter being a local delicacy.
The 'Prince' is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. It is situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park that covers an area of 519 square miles and is an area of outstanding natural beauty with many recreational activities and amenities within easy travelling distance. The Prince of Wales Inn is just 30 minutes by car to the Welsh capital of Cardiff and within easy reach of popular towns such as Swansea, Brecon and Abergavenny.
John has been heavily involved with road cycle sport all his life and likes nothing better than talking to some of the many riders who enjoy the local mountains and downhill venues such as Cwmcarn and Bikepark Wales just 5 minutes away by car.
Meals are available from 12noon through to 9.00pm with succulent Welsh steaks from £6.50 to enjoy in our restaurant or in the lounge bar beside the roaring log fire.
